Indication
Used in women for the treatment of androgen-dependent conditions such as severe acne (with or without seborrhea), hirsutism, and alopecia. Also acts as an oral contraceptive during treatment.
Ingredients
- Cyproterone acetate
- Ethinylestradiol
Direction
Take 1 tablet daily for 21 consecutive days, starting on day 1 of the menstrual cycle. Follow with a 7-day tablet-free interval during which a withdrawal bleed usually occurs. Take at the same time each day, with a little liquid if necessary.
Side effects
- Common: headache
- nausea
- breast tenderness
- mood changes
- breakthrough bleeding.
- Common: decreased libido.
- Serious: venous thromboembolism (deep vein thrombosis
- pulmonary embolism).
- Rare: liver tumors
- arterial thrombosis (stroke
- myocardial infarction).
Precautions
- Contraindicated in patients with history of venous thromboembolism
- arterial thromboembolism
- or known thrombophilic conditions.
- Contraindicated in active liver disease or history of liver tumors.
- Contraindicated in hormone
- sensitive malignancies (breast cancer
- endometrial cancer).
- Contraindicated in undiagnosed vaginal bleeding.
- Contraindicated in pregnancy.
- Increases risk of venous thromboembolism compared to other combined oral contraceptives.
- Smoking significantly increases cardiovascular risk
- strongly advise not to smoke.
- Regular blood pressure monitoring recommended.
- Keep out of reach of children.
