Erycyl 250 Child 250mg

Indication

A macrolide antibiotic for the treatment of bacterial infections in children, including respiratory tract infections, skin infections, and ear infections, and as an alternative to penicillin in penicillin-allergic patients.

Ingredients

• Erythromycin

Direction

Children: typically 30–50 mg/kg/day divided every 6–8 hours, as directed by a physician. Take with or without food; food may reduce gastrointestinal side effects.

Side effects

• Nausea
• vomiting
• and abdominal cramps.
• Diarrhoea.
• Allergic reactions.
• Hepatotoxicity with prolonged use.

Precautions

• Complete the full course of treatment.
• Inform physician of all medications
• erythromycin interacts with many drugs.
• Use with caution in patients with liver disease.
• Can prolong QT interval.
• Not for use in neonates without specialist supervision.
