Sevetron 4 mg/5 mL, 30 mL

Indication

Sevetron (Ondansetron 4 mg/5 mL oral solution) is a selective 5-HT3 receptor antagonist used for the prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting induced by chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or post-operatively.

Direction

Adults: 8 mg (10 mL) 1–2 hours before chemotherapy, then 8 mg every 8–12 hours. Children (4–11 years): 4 mg (5 mL) every 8 hours. Dosage and frequency adjusted based on indication and clinical judgment by physician.

Side effects

• Headache.
• Constipation.
• Dizziness.
• QT interval prolongation.
• Flushing
• sensation of warmth.
• Rare: serotonin syndrome
• hypersensitivity reactions.

Precautions

• Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment
• dose reduction required in severe hepatic impairment.
• QT interval prolongation reported
• use with caution in patients with cardiac conditions or concomitant QT
• prolonging drugs.
• Serotonin syndrome possible
• especially in combination with other serotonergic drugs.
• Caution in patients with congenital long QT syndrome.
• Keep out of reach of children.
