Nandium 2 mg

Indication

Loperamide is an antidiarrheal agent used for the symptomatic relief of acute diarrhea and chronic diarrhea associated with inflammatory bowel disease. Also used to reduce ileostomy output.

• Loperamide HCl

Direction

Adults: Initial dose 4 mg (2 capsules) followed by 2 mg after each loose stool. Maximum 16 mg/day. Children (2–12 years): 0.08–0.24 mg/kg/day divided into 2–3 doses. Do not exceed 8 mg/day in children.

• drowsiness.
• Dry mouth.
• Abdominal bloating.
• Allergic skin reactions (rare).

Precautions

• Do not use in children under 2 years.
• Discontinue if no improvement after 48 hours.
• Do not use in patients with acute dysentery with blood in stools.
• Do not use in pseudomembranous colitis.
• Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment.
• High doses may cause QT prolongation — do not exceed recommended dose.
• Keep out of reach of children.
