Indication

Cefaclor is a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat respiratory tract infections (including otitis media, pharyngitis, sinusitis), urinary tract infections, and skin and soft tissue infections caused by susceptible organisms.

Direction

Children: Standard dose 20–40 mg/kg/day divided every 8–12 hours. For the 125 mg/5 mL suspension, measure dose carefully using the provided measure. Reconstitute as per instructions, shake well before each use.

Precautions
  • Do not use in patients with hypersensitivity to cephalosporins.
  • Use with caution in patients with penicillin allergy.
  • Reduce dose in severe renal impairment.
  • Prolonged use may cause superinfection.
  • May cause false
  • positive Coombs test.
  • Serum sickness
