Indication

Bromazepam is a benzodiazepine anxiolytic used for the short-term management of anxiety disorders, tension, restlessness, and anxiety-associated insomnia.

Ingredients

Direction

Adults: 6–18 mg/day in divided doses, as prescribed by a physician. Elderly: start with lower doses (e.g., 3 mg/day). Take orally with or without food. Use for the shortest duration possible (typically 2–4 weeks).

Side effects

• Drowsiness
• sedation.
• Dizziness
• confusion.
• Memory impairment.
• Muscle weakness.
• Paradoxical reactions (agitation
• aggression) — more common in children and elderly.
• Dependence and withdrawal symptoms with prolonged use.

Precautions

• Controlled substance — use only under medical prescription.
• Risk of dependence and withdrawal
• do not stop abruptly after prolonged use.
• Contraindicated in patients with acute alcohol intoxication
• myasthenia gravis
• severe respiratory insufficiency
• or sleep apnea syndrome.
• Avoid in patients with a history of drug or alcohol abuse.
• May cause drowsiness
• memory impairment
• and impaired coordination.
• Avoid driving or operating machinery.
• Avoid concurrent use with alcohol and other CNS depressants.
• Use with caution in the elderly (increased risk of falls).
• Not recommended in pregnancy (especially first trimester) or breastfeeding.
