Metformin Denk 850 850mg

Indication

Metformin Denk 850 (Metformin HCl 850 mg) is a biguanide antidiabetic used as first-line treatment for type 2 diabetes mellitus to control blood glucose levels. It reduces hepatic glucose production, decreases intestinal absorption of glucose, and improves insulin sensitivity.

• Metformin HCl

Direction

Adults: 500 mg to 850 mg two or three times daily with or after meals to reduce gastrointestinal side effects. Dose should be titrated gradually. Maximum dose: 3000 mg/day. Swallow tablets whole with plenty of water.

Side effects

• Nausea
• vomiting
• diarrhea
• abdominal pain (especially at start of therapy)
• Loss of appetite
• Metallic taste in mouth
• Lactic acidosis (rare but serious)
• Vitamin B12 deficiency with long
• term use

Precautions

• Do not use in patients with eGFR < 30 mL/min/1.73 m² (severe renal impairment).
• Contraindicated in metabolic acidosis
• including diabetic ketoacidosis.
• Withhold before and 48 hours after iodinated contrast media procedures.
• Risk of lactic acidosis
• especially in renal or hepatic impairment
• seek immediate medical attention for symptoms (muscle pain
• breathing difficulty
• abdominal pain).
• Avoid excessive alcohol intake.
• Monitor renal function regularly.
• Use with caution in elderly patients.
• Keep out of reach of children.
