Lipiget 20mg

Indication

Lipiget (Atorvastatin 20 mg) is an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin) used to reduce elevated total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and triglycerides, and to increase HDL cholesterol in adults with hyperlipidaemia. It also reduces the risk of cardiovascular events in high-risk patients.

• Atorvastatin

Direction

Adults: 20 mg once daily at any time of day, with or without food. Dose may be titrated by a physician up to 80 mg/day. Swallow tablet whole.

Side effects

• Muscle pain or weakness (myalgia)
• Nausea
• constipation
• diarrhea
• flatulence
• Headache
• Elevated liver enzymes
• Rhabdomyolysis (rare but serious)

Precautions

• Do not use if allergic to atorvastatin or any statin.
• Contraindicated in active liver disease or unexplained persistent serum transaminase elevations.
• Contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
• Report any unexplained muscle pain
• weakness
• or tenderness immediately.
• Use with caution with drugs that may increase statin plasma levels (e.g.
• CYP3A4 inhibitors
• fibrates
• cyclosporine).
• Avoid excessive alcohol.
• Keep out of reach of children.
