Mediclovir Cream 50mg/g

Indication

Acyclovir 5% cream (50 mg/g) is a topical antiviral used for the treatment of herpes simplex virus skin infections, including cold sores (labial herpes) and genital herpes lesions.

Direction

Apply a thin layer to the affected area 5 times daily (every 4 hours, omitting the night-time dose) for 5 days. Begin treatment as soon as possible at the first sign of infection (tingling, itching). Wash hands before and after applying.

Side effects

• Transient burning

• or mild erythema.
• Rare: allergic contact dermatitis.

Precautions

• For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes
• mouth
• and mucous membranes.
• Do not apply to unaffected skin.
• Not for use on genital herpes in children without medical supervision.
• Do not use in patients with known hypersensitivity to acyclovir or propylene glycol.
• Keep out of reach of children.
