Indication
Tusin is a combination cough syrup containing an expectorant (guaifenesin) and antitussive (dextromethorphan) used for the relief of productive and non-productive coughs associated with upper respiratory tract infections, bronchitis, and colds.
Ingredients
- Guaifenesin 100 mg
- Dextromethorphan HBr 10 mg
Direction
Adults: 10 mL every 4–6 hours, not exceeding 40 mL in 24 hours. Children 6–12 years: 5 mL every 4–6 hours. Children 2–6 years: 2.5 mL every 4–6 hours. Follow product insert or physician's guidance.
Side effects
- Nausea
- dizziness
- drowsiness.
- Gastrointestinal discomfort.
- Rare: allergic reactions.
Precautions
- Do not use with or within 14 days of MAO inhibitors.
- Avoid in patients with known hypersensitivity to dextromethorphan or guaifenesin.
- Dextromethorphan may cause sedation
- avoid driving or operating machinery.
- Avoid alcohol and other CNS depressants.
- Not for persistent or chronic cough (e.g.
- asthma
- smoker's cough
- emphysema) without medical advice.
- Keep out of reach of children.
