Paderyl 19.5 mg

Indication

Codeine phosphate 19.5 mg is an opioid antitussive and mild analgesic used for the relief of dry, unproductive, and irritating cough and for the treatment of mild to moderate pain.

Ingredients

Direction

Adults: For cough: 10–20 mg every 4–6 hours (max 120 mg/day). For pain: 30–60 mg every 4–6 hours (max 240 mg/day). Take with food or milk to reduce gastric irritation. Not for use in children under 12 years.

Side effects

• Drowsiness

• Respiratory depression (at high doses).
• Risk of dependence and tolerance.
• Rare: allergic reactions
• urinary retention.

Precautions

• Not for use in children under 12 years or in individuals under 18 for post
• tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy pain due to risk of respiratory depression.
• Avoid in patients with known ultra
• rapid codeine metaboliser status (CYP2D6).
• Risk of respiratory depression and dependence with opioid use.
• Do not use with or within 14 days of MAO inhibitors.
• Avoid concurrent use with alcohol
• sedatives
• or CNS depressants.
• Contraindicated in severe respiratory depression
• asthma
• or paralytic ileus.
• Keep out of reach of children.
