Indication
Microlax Bébé is a rectal micro-enema used for the treatment of constipation in infants and young children. Sodium citrate releases water from faecal matter; sodium lauryl sulfoacetate softens stools; sorbitol draws water into the bowel.
Ingredients
- Sorbitol
- Sodium Citrate
- Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate
Direction
For rectal use only. Remove cap, lubricate tip, insert gently into the rectum of the infant/child and squeeze the entire contents. Keep buttocks together for 30 seconds before allowing defaecation. Typically produces a bowel movement within 5–30 minutes.
Side effects
- Mild rectal irritation or discomfort.
- Rare: allergic reactions.
- Rare: transient electrolyte imbalance with excessive repeated use.
Precautions
- For rectal use only — do not administer orally.
- Intended for infants and young children
- consult a physician for use in neonates (under 4 weeks).
- Do not use in the presence of anal fissures
- rectal bleeding
- or bowel obstruction without medical advice.
- Not for long
- term or habitual use.
- Keep out of reach of children.
