Indication

Microlax Bébé is a rectal micro-enema used for the treatment of constipation in infants and young children. Sodium citrate releases water from faecal matter; sodium lauryl sulfoacetate softens stools; sorbitol draws water into the bowel.

Ingredients

• Sorbitol
• Sodium Citrate
• Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate

Direction

For rectal use only. Remove cap, lubricate tip, insert gently into the rectum of the infant/child and squeeze the entire contents. Keep buttocks together for 30 seconds before allowing defaecation. Typically produces a bowel movement within 5–30 minutes.

Side effects

• Mild rectal irritation or discomfort.
• Rare: allergic reactions.
• Rare: transient electrolyte imbalance with excessive repeated use.

Precautions

• For rectal use only — do not administer orally.
• Intended for infants and young children
• consult a physician for use in neonates (under 4 weeks).
• Do not use in the presence of anal fissures
