Indication
Ondansetron (VOMIZET-4) is a selective 5-HT3 receptor antagonist used to prevent and treat nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and post-operative nausea and vomiting.
Ingredients
- Ondansetron
Direction
Adults: 4–8 mg up to three times daily. Children 4–11 years (post-operative): 0.1 mg/kg (max 4 mg) as a single dose. Exact dosing depends on indication; follow prescriber instructions. May be taken with or without food.
Side effects
- Common: headache
- constipation
- warm/flushing sensation.
- Uncommon: hiccups
- hypotension
- bradycardia.
- Rare: hypersensitivity reactions including anaphylaxis.
- Rare: QT interval prolongation
- arrhythmias.
Precautions
- May cause QT prolongation
- use with caution in patients with cardiac arrhythmias or electrolyte imbalances.
- Avoid concomitant use with apomorphine.
- Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment (dose reduction may be needed).
- May cause headache and constipation.
- Not recommended in children under 1 month.
- Keep out of reach of children.
