Piyenchin 1:1000

Indication

Piyenchin (Naphazoline HCl 1:1000) is a topical nasal decongestant used for the temporary relief of nasal congestion due to colds, allergic rhinitis, and sinusitis.

Ingredients

Direction

Adults and children over 12 years: instil 1–2 drops into each nostril every 4–6 hours as needed. Do not use for more than 3–5 consecutive days to avoid rebound congestion (rhinitis medicamentosa).

Side effects

• Common: transient nasal burning or stinging.
• Uncommon: rebound nasal congestion with prolonged use.
• Rare: systemic effects (palpitations
• hypertension) with excessive use.

Precautions

• Do not use for more than 3–5 days continuously.
• Avoid in patients with hypertension
• cardiovascular disease
• hyperthyroidism
• or narrow
• angle glaucoma.
• Do not use in children under 12 years without medical advice.
• Avoid concomitant use with MAO inhibitors.
• Keep out of reach of children.
