Salbutamol Tablets BP 2mg

Indication

Salbutamol Tablets BP 2 mg (Salbutamol) is a short-acting beta-2 adrenergic agonist bronchodilator used for the relief and prevention of bronchospasm in asthma, COPD, and other reversible obstructive airway conditions.

Direction

Adults: 2–4 mg (1–2 tablets) three to four times daily. Children 6–12 years: 2 mg (1 tablet) three to four times daily. Children 2–6 years: 1–2 mg three to four times daily. Use lowest effective dose. May be taken with or without food.

Side effects

• Common: tremor
• palpitations
• headache
• tachycardia.
• Uncommon: muscle cramps
• dizziness
• nervousness.
• Rare: hypokalaemia
• hypersensitivity reactions.

Precautions

• Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular disease
• hypertension
• hyperthyroidism
• or diabetes.
• May cause hypokalaemia with high doses
• monitor electrolytes in severe asthma.
• Not a substitute for inhaled therapy in managing acute severe asthma.
• Keep out of reach of children.
