Indication

Relief of productive cough associated with respiratory tract infections in children. Guaifenesin acts as an expectorant; bromhexine is a mucolytic that reduces mucus viscosity to aid expectoration.

Ingredients

• Guaifenesin 50 mg per 5 mL
• Bromhexine HCl 2 mg per 5 mL

Direction

Children 6–12 years: 5–10 mL (1–2 teaspoons) every 6–8 hours. Children 2–6 years: 5 mL (1 teaspoon) every 6–8 hours. Children under 2 years: consult a physician. Shake well before use.

• Hypersensitivity reactions (rare)

Precautions

• Do not use in children with hypersensitivity to guaifenesin or bromhexine.
• Not recommended for use in neonates due to benzyl alcohol content (if present in formulation — check label).
• Use with caution in patients with peptic ulcer.
• Ensure adequate hydration when taking expectorants.
• If cough persists beyond 7 days or is accompanied by fever
• consult a doctor.
• Keep out of reach of children.
