Indication
RAHAT is a combination cough and cold preparation used to relieve symptoms of upper respiratory tract infections including non-productive dry cough (dextromethorphan), excessive mucus and productive cough (guaifenesin + bromhexine), nasal congestion, runny nose, sneezing, and watery eyes (chlorpheniramine).
Ingredients
- Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide
- Guaifenesin
- Bromhexine Hydrochloride
- Chlorpheniramine Maleate
Direction
Adults and children over 12 years: Take as directed on labelling (typically 1 tablet or specified dose every 6–8 hours). Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Take with or after food to reduce stomach upset.
Side effects
- Drowsiness or sedation (chlorpheniramine)
- Dry mouth
- nose
- or throat
- Dizziness or headache
- Nausea or stomach upset
- Thickening of bronchial secretions (antihistamine effect)
- Difficulty urinating (in susceptible patients)
Precautions
- Do not use with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or within 14 days of stopping MAOIs.
- Avoid use in patients with severe liver or kidney disease.
- Chlorpheniramine may cause drowsiness
- avoid driving or operating machinery.
- Do not use in children under 2 years without medical advice.
- Avoid alcohol during treatment.
- Use with caution in patients with asthma
- chronic bronchitis
- or COPD.
- Consult a doctor before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
- Do not combine with other cold
- cough
- or antihistamine medicines.
