Tiffy Syrup 30ml

Indication

Tiffy Syrup is a combination cold and flu preparation containing paracetamol (fever and pain relief), chlorpheniramine maleate (antihistamine to relieve runny nose, sneezing, and watery eyes), and phenylephrine hydrochloride (nasal decongestant). It is used to relieve symptoms of the common cold, flu, and allergic rhinitis.

Direction

Tiffy Syrup dosing is based on weight and age (concentrations vary by product pack size). Follow the dosing instructions on the label. Generally for children: administer by weight every 4–6 hours as directed. Do not exceed 4 doses in 24 hours. Shake well before use.

Side effects

• Drowsiness or sedation
• Dry mouth
• Nausea or stomach upset
• Increased heart rate (phenylephrine)
• Difficulty urinating in predisposed patients

Precautions

• Do not exceed the recommended dose.
• Do not use with other paracetamol
• containing medicines.
• Do not use with MAOIs or within 14 days of stopping them.
• Use with caution in children with liver or kidney disease.
• Chlorpheniramine may cause drowsiness
• monitor children during activities.
• Avoid alcohol (relevant for older patients).
• Consult a doctor before use in children under 2 years.
• Do not use in infants without medical advice.
