Indication

Paracetamol (acetaminophen) is an analgesic (pain reliever) and antipyretic (fever reducer) used to relieve mild to moderate pain such as headache, toothache, muscle aches, and to reduce fever in adults and children.

Direction

Children (for 250 mg tablets): Children 7–12 years weighing 25–40 kg: 250 mg (1 tablet) every 4–6 hours as needed. Do not exceed 4 doses in 24 hours. Adults: 500–1000 mg every 4–6 hours; maximum 4000 mg per 24 hours. Take with water.

Side effects

• Rare when used at recommended doses
• Skin rash or allergic reaction (rare)
• Liver damage with overdose or chronic excessive use

Precautions

• Do not exceed the recommended dose
• overdose causes serious liver damage.
• Do not use with other paracetamol
• containing medicines.
• Avoid or limit alcohol during treatment.
• Use with caution in patients with liver or kidney disease.
• Consult a doctor before use in pregnancy or breastfeeding.
• If symptoms persist more than 3 days or worsen
• seek medical advice.
• Keep out of reach of children.
