Indication

Paracetamol (acetaminophen) oral suspension is an analgesic (pain reliever) and antipyretic (fever reducer) used to relieve mild to moderate pain and reduce fever in infants and children.

Direction

Dose is based on the child's weight. General guideline: 15 mg/kg every 4–6 hours as needed. With 250 mg/5 mL suspension: 3 mL per 10 kg body weight every 4–6 hours. Do not exceed 4 doses in 24 hours. Shake well before use and use the measuring device provided.

Side effects

• Rare when used at recommended doses
• Skin rash or allergic reaction (rare)
• Liver damage with overdose

Precautions

• Do not exceed the recommended dose
• overdose causes serious liver damage.
• Do not use with other paracetamol
• containing medicines.
• Use with caution in children with liver or kidney disease.
• Consult a doctor before use in infants under 3 months.
• If fever persists more than 3 days or pain more than 5 days
• seek medical advice.
• Keep out of reach of children.
