Metformin Denk 500 mg

Indication

Metformin Denk 500 is an oral antidiabetic medicine used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus, particularly in overweight patients, when diet and exercise alone do not provide adequate blood glucose control. It may be used as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents.

Ingredients

• Metformin HCl 500 mg

Direction

Swallow whole with or after meals. The dose is individualized by the physician based on blood glucose levels. Usual starting dose is one tablet two to three times daily, with gradual dose increases as needed.

Side effects

• Nausea
• vomiting
• diarrhea
• and abdominal discomfort are common at the start of therapy.
• Lactic acidosis is a rare but serious adverse effect — seek immediate medical attention if symptoms occur.
• Long
• term use may reduce vitamin B12 absorption.

Precautions

• Use only under medical supervision.
• Contraindicated in patients with renal impairment (eGFR < 30 mL/min)
• hepatic failure
• or severe dehydration.
• Suspend before iodinated contrast media procedures and resume 48 hours after if renal function is normal.
• Monitor renal function periodically.
• Keep out of reach of children.
