Dexacol 5 ml

Indication

- Bacterial eye infections responsive to chloramphenicol with an inflammatory component - Acute and chronic conjunctivitis - Blepharitis and keratitis - Prophylaxis of infection and inflammation after eye surgery

Ingredients

• Chloramphenicol 0.5% + Dexamethasone 0.1% (eye drops)

Direction

Instill 1-2 drops into the affected eye several times daily as directed by a physician, typically for about 7-10 days.

Side effects

• Transient eye stinging or burning
• Eye irritation or redness
• Allergic reactions
• Raised intraocular pressure with prolonged use

Precautions

• Not for prolonged use
• corticosteroid use may raise intraocular pressure and risk glaucoma
• Avoid in viral
• fungal
• or tuberculous eye infections
• Remove contact lenses before use
• Chloramphenicol carries a rare risk of blood dyscrasia with prolonged or repeated use
