Indication
- Anaerobic bacterial infections - Amoebiasis (intestinal and hepatic) - Giardiasis - Trichomoniasis
Ingredients
- Metronidazole 200 mg/5 mL
Direction
Take orally with or after food; dose and duration depend on the infection and the patient's weight, as prescribed by a physician.
Side effects
- Nausea and metallic taste
- Loss of appetite
- Headache and dizziness
- Dark
- coloured urine
- Rarely peripheral neuropathy with prolonged use
Precautions
- Avoid alcohol during and for 48 hours after treatment (disulfiram
- like reaction)
- Use with caution in liver impairment
- May cause a metallic taste and dark urine
- Avoid in the first trimester of pregnancy unless essential
