Indication
Oral anticoagulant indicated for the treatment and prevention of thromboembolic disorders, including deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, and thromboembolic complications associated with atrial fibrillation or prosthetic heart valves.
Ingredients
- Acenocoumarol 4 mg
Direction
As directed by the physician, based on INR monitoring. Take orally at the same time each day. Doses are individualized and must be adjusted by the prescribing doctor.
Side effects
- Bleeding (nosebleed
- bleeding gums
- blood in urine or stool
- easy bruising).
- Nausea
- vomiting or loss of appetite.
- Skin rash or hair loss (rare).
- Liver enzyme changes with long
- term use.
- Stop use and consult a doctor immediately if signs of major bleeding or severe allergic reaction occur.
Precautions
- Use only under medical supervision with regular INR monitoring.
- Inform all healthcare providers (including dentists) that you are taking an anticoagulant.
- Avoid abrupt changes in diet
- especially foods rich in vitamin K.
- Avoid alcohol and many other medicines that may interact
- check with your doctor or pharmacist.
- Contraindicated during pregnancy unless the doctor decides the benefit outweighs the risk.
