Indication
Treatment of essential hypertension in adults whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with olmesartan medoxomil or amlodipine alone. Fixed-dose combination of an angiotensin II receptor antagonist (Olmesartan) and a calcium channel blocker (Amlodipine).
Ingredients
- Olmesartan medoxomil USP 40 mg
- Amlodipine besylate USP equivalent to Amlodipine 10 mg
Direction
As directed by the physician. Take 1 tablet once a day. The dosage may be increased up to 2 tablets in a day if required. Do not take more than 2 tablets in 24 hours.
Side effects
- Common: dizziness
- headache
- peripheral oedema
- palpitations
- flushing
- fatigue.
- Less common: nausea
- abdominal pain
- rash
- sprue
- like enteropathy (with chronic olmesartan use)
- tachycardia.
- Rare but serious: angioedema
- acute renal failure
- severe hyperkalaemia
- hepatic dysfunction.
- Stop use and seek medical attention immediately for swelling of the face
- lips or tongue
- severe rash
- fainting
- chest pain or persistent severe diarrhoea.
Precautions
- Prescription
- only — use only under medical supervision.
- Do not use in pregnancy (especially in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters) or breastfeeding.
- Do not use in known hypersensitivity to olmesartan
- amlodipine
- dihydropyridines or any of the excipients.
- Use with caution in patients with severe aortic stenosis
- severe hypotension
- recent myocardial infarction
- unstable angina
- severe hepatic impairment
- renal artery stenosis or volume depletion.
- Monitor renal function
- serum potassium and blood pressure periodically.
- Co
- administration with potassium
- sparing diuretics
- potassium supplements or salt substitutes containing potassium is generally not recommended.
