Indication
Prescription corticosteroid injection. For the treatment of conditions responsive to corticosteroid therapy, such as severe allergic reactions, certain inflammatory and rheumatic disorders, dermatological conditions, and other indications requiring intramuscular triamcinolone. Use only under medical supervision.
Ingredients
- Triamcinolone Acetonide 80 mg per 2 ml ampoule (40 mg/ml)
Direction
Administered by deep intramuscular injection into the gluteal muscle by a healthcare professional, at a dose individualised by the prescriber. Do not self-administer.
Side effects
- Common: weight gain
- fluid retention
- increased appetite
- mood changes
- insomnia
- increased blood pressure or blood sugar.
- Less common but serious: adrenal suppression
- immunosuppression
- osteoporosis
- cataracts
- glaucoma
- skin atrophy at injection site.
- Seek immediate medical attention for signs of severe allergic reaction or systemic infection.
Precautions
- Prescription
- only — to be administered by a healthcare professional.
- Avoid abrupt withdrawal after prolonged use (risk of adrenal insufficiency).
- Use with caution in patients with active or latent infections
- diabetes
- osteoporosis
- hypertension
- peptic ulcer disease
- or psychiatric disturbances.
- Avoid live vaccines during corticosteroid therapy.
- Inform the doctor of pregnancy/breastfeeding status.
