Indication
Cefiget is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat infections caused by susceptible bacteria, including acute otitis media, pharyngitis and tonsillitis, acute bronchitis, and uncomplicated urinary tract infections, in children and adults.
Ingredients
- Cefixime USP (as cefixime trihydrate) 100 mg per reconstituted 5 mL
Direction
Fill previously boiled and cooled water up to the mark on the bottle and shake vigorously to reconstitute (30 mL when reconstituted). Shake well before each use. The usual dose for children aged 6 months to 12 years is 8 mg/kg of body weight per day, given once daily or divided every 12 hours; children over 45 kg or older than 12 years use the adult dose. Use the spoon provided and take as directed by a physician.
Side effects
- Diarrhoea
- loose stools
- nausea
- abdominal pain or indigestion may occur.
- Headache or dizziness.
- Prolonged or repeated use may lead to oral thrush or a new fungal infection.
- Stop the medicine and seek medical attention immediately if signs of an allergic reaction occur
- such as rash
- swelling of the face
- lips or tongue
- or difficulty breathing.
Precautions
- Do not use in patients allergic to cefixime or other cephalosporin antibiotics.
- Use with caution in patients with a history of penicillin allergy or impaired kidney function.
- Tell your doctor about all other medicines being taken.
- Complete the full prescribed course even if symptoms improve.
- Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use
- and stop use if irritation or an allergic reaction occurs.
