Indication

Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus (non-insulin-dependent) when diet, physical exercise and weight reduction alone are not adequate to control blood sugar.

Ingredients

• Glimepiride 4 mg

Direction

As directed by the physician or see package insert for full prescribing information. Usually taken once daily with or immediately before the first main meal.

Side effects

• Hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar): symptoms include sweating
• trembling
• hunger
• dizziness
• confusion
• Weight gain
• Nausea
• vomiting or abdominal discomfort
• Visual disturbances
• especially at start of treatment
• Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use
• stop if irritation or allergy occurs

Precautions

• Use with caution in elderly
• debilitated or malnourished patients and those with kidney or liver impairment due to higher risk of hypoglycaemia
• Take regular meals
• skipping meals increases the risk of low blood sugar
• Tell your doctor if pregnant
• planning pregnancy or breastfeeding
• Alcohol may increase the risk of hypoglycaemia
• Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use
• stop if irritation or allergy occurs
