Indication

Carbocisteine is a mucolytic agent used to relieve cough characterized by excessive or sticky sputum or phlegm, and to help treat respiratory tract disorders such as acute bronchitis. It also reduces the number of exacerbations associated with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and is used in otitis media with effusion (glue ear).

Ingredients

• Carbocisteine 200 mg/5 mL

Direction

Take by mouth every 8 hours, or as recommended by a doctor. Children 2 to 3 years: 2.5 mL (half teaspoonful). Children 4 to 7 years: 5 mL (1 teaspoonful). Children 8 to 12 years: 7.5 mL (1 and a half teaspoonfuls).
