Indication
- Chronic constipation - Hepatic encephalopathy - Stool softening for medical conditions - Portal-systemic encephalopathy
Ingredients
- Lactulose
Direction
Take orally, preferably as a single dose at the same time each day. Can be taken with or without food or mixed with liquids.
Side effects
- Flatulence
- Abdominal pain
- Nausea
- Diarrhea
- Vomiting
Precautions
- Contraindicated in galactosemia
- Avoid if intestinal obstruction present
- Caution in patients with diabetes
- Risk of electrolyte imbalance if overused
