Axcel Acyclovir 5% w/w

Indication

Treatment of herpes simplex virus infections of the skin, including genital herpes and herpes labialis.

Ingredients

• Aciclovir (micronised) 5% w/w

Direction

For adults, children and geriatric: apply cream to the affected area 5 or 6 times daily for 5 to 10 days. Apply as early as possible after the start of an infection, particularly at the start of recurrent episodes during the prodromal period or when lesions first appear.

Side effects

• May cause local skin reactions such as transient burning
• stinging
• itching or dryness at the site of application. If any side effects occur
• consult a doctor or pharmacist.

Precautions

• Do not apply to mucous membranes (e.g. in the mouth
• eyes or vagina). In severely immune
• compromised patients (e.g. AIDS patients or bone marrow transplant recipients)
• oral acyclovir dosing should be considered. For external use only. Keep out of reach of children. Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use.
