Indication
- Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus - Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) - Prevention of Type 2 Diabetes
Ingredients
- Metformin Hydrochloride
Direction
Take orally with or after meals to reduce gastrointestinal side effects. Usually taken one to three times daily as directed by a physician.
Side effects
- Diarrhea
- Nausea and vomiting
- Abdominal pain/bloating
- Metallic taste in mouth
- Vitamin B12 deficiency
Precautions
- Risk of lactic acidosis
- Contraindicated in severe renal impairment
- Monitor kidney function regularly
- Avoid excessive alcohol consumption
- Discontinue before radiological imaging with contrast
