Indication

Erythromycin is a macrolide antibiotic for systemic use, indicated for the treatment of susceptible bacterial infections such as respiratory tract, skin and soft tissue, and ENT infections.

Side effects

• May cause nausea
• vomiting
• abdominal discomfort or diarrhoea. Rarely allergic reactions or heart rhythm changes. If serious or unusual effects occur

Precautions

• Complete the full prescribed course even if symptoms improve. Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use if you have liver disease
• a heart rhythm disorder
• or are taking other medicines
• as erythromycin may interact with them.
