Mucosta 100 mg

Indication

Gastric mucosal protective agent. Used for the treatment of gastric ulcer and for the improvement of gastric mucosal lesions (erosion, bleeding, redness and oedema) in acute gastritis and in acute exacerbation of chronic gastritis. Rebamipide works by increasing gastric mucus and promoting mucosal repair.

• Rebamipide 100 mg

Direction

Take by mouth as directed by a doctor. For gastric ulcer the usual adult dose is 100 mg three times daily, in the morning, evening and at bedtime. For gastritis the usual adult dose is 100 mg three times daily. Swallow the tablet whole with water. The dose may be adjusted by a doctor according to age and symptoms. Side effects

• Constipation
• abdominal distension or diarrhoea
• Nausea
• vomiting or heartburn
• Taste disturbance
• Rash
• itching or other skin reactions
• Rarely abnormal liver function test results
• Very rarely a decrease in white blood cells or platelets
• If any side effect is severe or persists

Precautions

• Ethical (prescription) medicine — use only under medical supervision
• Do not use if you are allergic to rebamipide or any other ingredient of this product
• Tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems
• Rebamipide relieves symptoms but does not treat the underlying cause of an ulcer
• if a Helicobacter pylori infection is present it must be treated separately
• Tell your doctor if symptoms do not improve or if you notice black stools or vomit blood — these may indicate a bleeding ulcer
• Tell your doctor if you are pregnant
• planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding
• Keep medicines out of reach of children
