Indication
- Herpes simplex virus infections - Genital herpes treatment and suppression - Varicella-zoster virus (chickenpox) - Herpes zoster (shingles) - Prevention of HSV in immunocompromised patients
Ingredients
- Acyclovir (Aciclovir)
Direction
Take orally with or without food. Typically administered five times daily at approximately four-hour intervals while awake for 5 to 10 days.
Side effects
- Nausea and vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Fatigue
- Photosensitivity or skin rashes
Precautions
- Maintain adequate hydration during treatment
- Dose adjustment needed for renal impairment
- Use caution in elderly patients
- Consult doctor during pregnancy or breastfeeding
