Indication

Prescription treatment of susceptible bacterial infections such as selected urinary tract infections, pharyngitis or tonsillitis, and respiratory infections, according to local guidance and culture results.

Ingredients

• Cefixime 200 mg (as cefixime trihydrate)

Direction

Use only as directed by a physician. Disperse the tablet in an appropriate small amount of water and take the full prepared dose promptly; dose and duration depend on the infection, age, weight and kidney function.

Side effects

• Diarrhea
• nausea
• abdominal pain
• indigestion or vomiting may occur.
• Stop and seek urgent care for severe allergy or skin reaction
• contact a clinician promptly for severe
• persistent or bloody diarrhea.

Precautions

• Do not use with cefixime or cephalosporin allergy
• use caution with penicillin allergy.
• Dose adjustment is required with renal impairment. Cefixime can interact with warfarin or other anticoagulants and carbamazepine
• complete the prescribed antibacterial course.
