Amlo-Denk 5 mg

Indication

Amlo-Denk (Amlodipine) is used for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) and chronic stable angina pectoris (chest pain). It may be used as monotherapy or in combination with other antihypertensive agents.

Ingredients

• Amlodipine 5 mg

Direction

Adults: 5 mg once daily initially. The dose may be increased to a maximum of 10 mg once daily, depending on response. Elderly patients or those with hepatic impairment: start with 2.5 mg once daily.

Side effects

• Peripheral oedema (ankle swelling)
• Flushing
• Headache
• dizziness
• Palpitations
• Fatigue
• Nausea
• abdominal pain
• Rare: gingival hyperplasia
• hypotension

Precautions

• Contraindicated in severe hypotension
• cardiogenic shock
• unstable angina (except vasospastic)
• and haemodynamically significant aortic stenosis.
• Use with caution in heart failure (non
• ischaemic)
• severe hepatic impairment.
• May cause peripheral oedema
• especially at higher doses.
• Interactions: simvastatin dose should not exceed 20 mg/day when combined with amlodipine
• caution with CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g. clarithromycin
• ketoconazole).
• Monitor blood pressure regularly.
