Indication
Rovista 10 contains Rosuvastatin, an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin) used to treat primary hypercholesterolaemia, mixed dyslipidaemia, and to reduce cardiovascular events. It reduces LDL-cholesterol, total cholesterol, and triglycerides while raising HDL-cholesterol.
Ingredients
- Rosuvastatin 10 mg
Direction
Adults: 5–10 mg once daily orally. Dose may be increased at 4-week intervals to a maximum of 40 mg/day in high-risk patients. Take at any time of day, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole.
Side effects
- Common: headache
- myalgia
- nausea
- abdominal pain
- constipation.
- Common: dizziness
- asthenia.
- Uncommon: myopathy.
- Rare: rhabdomyolysis (stop immediately).
- Rare: hepatitis
- proteinuria
- haematuria.
- Very rare: interstitial lung disease with long
- term use.
- Rare: new
- onset diabetes mellitus.
Precautions
- Contraindicated in active liver disease or unexplained elevation of serum transaminases.
- Contraindicated in pregnancy and breastfeeding.
- Maximum dose 20 mg in Asian patients (due to higher systemic exposure).
- Risk of myopathy and rhabdomyolysis — report muscle pain or weakness immediately.
- Monitor renal function in patients at risk.
- Caution with ciclosporin
- warfarin (monitor INR)
- fibrates
- and niacin.
- Reduce dose in moderate renal impairment
- contraindicated in severe renal impairment.
