Indication

Bisolvon contains Bromhexine, a mucolytic expectorant used as an adjunct treatment to help loosen and thin bronchial secretions in respiratory conditions associated with productive cough, including bronchitis, asthma, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Ingredients

• Bromhexine hydrochloride (dosage varies by formulation — typically 8 mg per tablet or 4 mg/5 mL syrup)

Direction

Adults and children aged 10 years and over: 8–16 mg three times daily orally. Children 6–10 years: 4 mg three times daily. Children 2–6 years: 2 mg three times daily. Take with or after meals.

Side effects

• Common: nausea
• vomiting
• diarrhoea
• abdominal pain.
• Common: dizziness
• headache.
• Uncommon: skin reactions (rash
• urticaria).
• Rare: severe skin reactions (Stevens
• Johnson syndrome — stop immediately).
• Rare: hypersensitivity reactions.

Precautions

• Use with caution in patients with gastric ulcer.
• Use with caution in patients with a history of bronchospasm.
• Caution in renal or hepatic impairment.
• Concurrent use with antibiotics (amoxicillin
• doxycycline) may increase antibiotic concentration in bronchial secretions.
