Indication

Ascoril Tablets contain a combination of a bronchodilator (Salbutamol), a mucolytic (Bromhexine), and an expectorant (Guaifenesin). Used for the symptomatic relief of productive cough with bronchospasm in respiratory conditions such as asthma, bronchitis, and COPD.

Ingredients

• Salbutamol 2 mg
• Bromhexine hydrochloride 8 mg
• Guaifenesin 100 mg

Direction

Adults: One tablet three times daily. Children (6–12 years): Half a tablet three times daily. Take with or after meals.

Side effects

• Common: tremor
• headache
• tachycardia
• palpitations (salbutamol).
• Common: nausea
• vomiting
• diarrhoea (bromhexine
• guaifenesin).
• Uncommon: hypokalaemia with high salbutamol doses.
• Rare: severe skin reactions (bromhexine).
• Rare: paradoxical bronchospasm.

Precautions

• Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular disease
• hypertension
• or hyperthyroidism (salbutamol component).
• Caution in diabetic patients (salbutamol may affect blood glucose).
• Caution with MAO inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants.
• Use with caution in gastric ulcer (bromhexine component).
• Monitor potassium levels with high doses.
• Caution in renal or hepatic impairment.
