Indication

Tussipax is used as a cough suppressant to relieve dry, non-productive cough. It also has antihistamine properties to relieve symptoms of allergic rhinitis such as runny nose and sneezing associated with upper respiratory tract conditions.

Ingredients

• Dextromethorphan HBr 10 mg
• Chlorphenamine maleate 4 mg

Direction

Adults and children over 12 years: 1 tablet 3 times daily. Children 6–12 years: half a tablet 3 times daily. Take with or after food. Do not exceed the recommended dose.

Side effects

• Drowsiness and sedation.
• Dizziness.
• Dry mouth.
• Nausea.
• Constipation.
• Urinary retention (in susceptible individuals).

Precautions

• Do not use if you are taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or have taken them within the last 14 days.
• Use with caution in patients with asthma
• chronic bronchitis
• or respiratory depression.
• May cause drowsiness
• avoid driving or operating machinery.
• Avoid alcohol during treatment.
• Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding without medical advice.
• Do not use for productive (wet) cough without medical supervision.
