Indication
Tussipax is used as a cough suppressant to relieve dry, non-productive cough. It also has antihistamine properties to relieve symptoms of allergic rhinitis such as runny nose and sneezing associated with upper respiratory tract conditions.
Ingredients
- Dextromethorphan HBr 10 mg
- Chlorphenamine maleate 4 mg
Direction
Adults and children over 12 years: 1 tablet 3 times daily. Children 6–12 years: half a tablet 3 times daily. Take with or after food. Do not exceed the recommended dose.
Side effects
- Drowsiness and sedation.
- Dizziness.
- Dry mouth.
- Nausea.
- Constipation.
- Urinary retention (in susceptible individuals).
Precautions
- Do not use if you are taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or have taken them within the last 14 days.
- Use with caution in patients with asthma
- chronic bronchitis
- or respiratory depression.
- May cause drowsiness
- avoid driving or operating machinery.
- Avoid alcohol during treatment.
- Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding without medical advice.
- Do not use for productive (wet) cough without medical supervision.
