Indication

Used for symptomatic treatment of acute non-specific diarrhoea and chronic diarrhoea. Reduces intestinal motility and secretion.

Ingredients

• Loperamide Hydrochloride 2 mg

Direction

Adults: 2 capsules (4 mg) initially, then 1 capsule (2 mg) after each loose stool. Maximum 8 capsules per day. Children (8–12 years): 1 capsule up to 3 times daily.

Side effects

• Constipation
• abdominal pain.
• Nausea
• dizziness.
• Rare: paralytic ileus.

Precautions

• Do not use in dysentery
• blood in stool
• or pseudomembranous colitis.
• Not for children under 8 years.
• Ensure fluid and electrolyte replacement.
• Consult a doctor if no improvement in 48 hours.
• Keep out of reach of children.
