Ciral (Ciprofloxacin Ophthalmic Solution USP) 0.3% as base

Indication

Ophthalmic antibiotic solution used for the treatment of bacterial infections of the eye including bacterial conjunctivitis, corneal ulcers, and other superficial ocular infections caused by susceptible organisms.

Ingredients

• Ciprofloxacin 0.3% w/v (3 mg per mL) as base

Direction

Adults and children over 1 year: For conjunctivitis: Instil 1–2 drops into the affected eye(s) every 2 hours while awake for the first 2 days, then every 4 hours for the next 5 days. For corneal ulcers: more frequent dosing per physician's instruction.

Side effects

• Local burning
• stinging
• or discomfort upon instillation.
• White crystalline precipitates may form on cornea (with corneal ulcer treatment — resolves without treatment).
• Rare: hypersensitivity reactions.

Precautions

• Not for injection or oral use.
• Do not wear contact lenses during treatment.
• Avoid contact of dropper tip with eye to prevent contamination.
• Prolonged use may lead to superinfection with resistant organisms.
• Consult a doctor if no improvement after 7 days.
• Keep out of reach of children.
