DIARYL Oral suspension (typically 218 mg/5 mL or 200 mg/5 mL depending on regional standards)

Indication

Intestinal antiseptic oral suspension used for the treatment of acute bacterial diarrhoea and enterocolitis in adults and children. Acts locally in the gastrointestinal tract.

Ingredients

• Nifuroxazide 200 mg per 5 mL (typical suspension concentration)

Direction

Adults and children over 6 years: 200 mg (5 mL) 3–4 times daily for 5–7 days. Children 2–6 years: 100 mg (2.5 mL) 3 times daily. Shake well before use.

Side effects

• Generally well tolerated.
• Rare: nausea
• vomiting.
• Allergic reactions (very rare).

Precautions

• Consult a doctor if diarrhoea is bloody or accompanied by high fever.
• Ensure adequate oral hydration.
• Not recommended for children under 2 years without medical supervision.
• Shake well before use.
• Keep out of reach of children.
