Indication
Intestinal antiseptic oral suspension used for the treatment of acute bacterial diarrhoea and enterocolitis in adults and children. Acts locally in the gastrointestinal tract.
Ingredients
- Nifuroxazide 200 mg per 5 mL (typical suspension concentration)
Direction
Adults and children over 6 years: 200 mg (5 mL) 3–4 times daily for 5–7 days. Children 2–6 years: 100 mg (2.5 mL) 3 times daily. Shake well before use.
Side effects
- Generally well tolerated.
- Rare: nausea
- vomiting.
- Allergic reactions (very rare).
Precautions
- Consult a doctor if diarrhoea is bloody or accompanied by high fever.
- Ensure adequate oral hydration.
- Not recommended for children under 2 years without medical supervision.
- Shake well before use.
- Keep out of reach of children.
