Indication

WOODS' Peppermint Expectorant is an over-the-counter cough preparation containing guaifenesin (expectorant) and peppermint oil for the relief of productive coughs and congestion associated with upper respiratory tract infections.

Ingredients

• Guaifenesin 50 mg per 5 ml
• Peppermint oil 1.4 mg per 5 ml

Direction

Adults and children over 12 years: 10 ml every 4–6 hours. Children 6–12 years: 5 ml every 4–6 hours. Children 2–6 years: 2.5 ml every 4–6 hours. Shake well before use. Do not exceed 6 doses in 24 hours.

Side effects

• Nausea or gastrointestinal discomfort (uncommon).
• Headache (rare).
• Skin rash (rare).

Precautions

• Do not use in children under 2 years without medical advice.
• Consult a physician if cough persists for more than 7 days.
• Avoid in patients with hypersensitivity to peppermint oil.
• Maintain adequate fluid intake while using this product.
