Indication
Clamoxyl (amoxicillin) is a penicillin antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections such as ear, nose and throat infections, chest infections (bronchitis, pneumonia), urinary tract infections, dental infections and skin infections, and as part of H. pylori eradication therapy.
Ingredients
- Amoxicillin (as trihydrate) 250 mg per sachet
Direction
Take as prescribed by the doctor (oral route). Stir the contents of the sachet into a little water before taking. The dose depends on body weight and infection; in children it is usually 25–50 mg/kg/day divided into 2–3 doses, as directed by the physician. Follow the prescribed doses and complete the full course even if you feel better.
Side effects
- Diarrhoea
- nausea or vomiting
- Skin rash or itching
- Thrush (candida infection)
- Rarely
- severe allergic reactions (swelling of face or throat
- difficulty breathing)
- Consult a doctor or pharmacist if any side effect is troublesome or persists
- and stop use if an allergic reaction occurs.
Precautions
- Do not take if you are allergic to penicillin or other beta
- lactam antibiotics.
- Prescription antibiotic: use only as directed by a physician and complete the full course.
- Tell your doctor if you have kidney disease
- glandular fever (infectious mononucleosis) or are taking other medicines.
- Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Keep out of reach of children.
