Indication
Padéryl is an opioid antitussive used for the short-term relief of dry, irritating (non-productive) cough in adults.
Ingredients
- Codeine phosphate hemihydrate 19.5 mg (equivalent to codeine 15.22 mg) per coated tablet
Direction
Oral use, prescription only. Adults: 1 to 2 tablets per dose, repeated after at least 6 hours if needed, without exceeding 8 tablets per day. Elderly patients or those with liver impairment: start with half the adult dose. Treatment should be short (a few days) and limited to times when the cough occurs. Respect the prescribed doses.
Side effects
- Constipation
- nausea or vomiting
- Drowsiness or dizziness
- Bronchospasm
- skin reactions or respiratory depression (rare)
- Risk of dependence with prolonged use
- Consult a doctor or pharmacist if any side effect is troublesome or persists
- and stop use if an allergic reaction occurs.
Precautions
- Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
- Prescription only (List I)
- respect the prescribed doses.
- Do not use for productive (wet) cough
- in asthmatic cough
- respiratory insufficiency
- or with nalbuphine
- buprenorphine or pentazocine.
- Do not use during pregnancy unless there is no therapeutic alternative
- contraindicated during breastfeeding.
- May cause drowsiness: do not drive or operate machinery without reading the leaflet
- avoid alcohol.
- Contains sucrose and sunset yellow (E110).
