Indication
Lincosamide antibiotic for serious infections caused by susceptible Gram-positive bacteria (streptococci, pneumococci, staphylococci), such as respiratory tract, skin and soft tissue, and bone and joint infections, particularly in patients allergic to penicillin.
Ingredients
- Lincomycin (as lincomycin hydrochloride) 500 mg
Direction
Oral route, on an empty stomach (1 hour before or 2 hours after meals) with a full glass of water. Usual adult dose: 500 mg 3–4 times a day, or as prescribed by a doctor. Do not exceed the recommended dosage. Read the leaflet inside carefully.
Side effects
- Nausea
- vomiting or diarrhoea
- Abdominal pain or upset stomach
- Skin rash or itching
- Oral or vaginal thrush (candidiasis)
- Rarely
- severe allergic reactions (swelling
- difficulty breathing)
- stop use and seek medical help immediately
- Severe or bloody diarrhoea may indicate antibiotic
- associated colitis
- contact a doctor
Precautions
- Do not use if allergic to lincomycin
- clindamycin or any ingredient
- Prescription medicine: use only as directed by a doctor
- Stop use and see a doctor if severe or persistent diarrhoea occurs (risk of pseudomembranous colitis)
- Not for treating minor bacterial or viral infections
- Complete the full course even if you feel better
- Use with caution in kidney or liver impairment
- Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use if pregnant or breastfeeding
- Keep out of reach of children
