Indication
Relief of the symptoms of nausea and vomiting.
Ingredients
- Domperidone 1 mg/ml
Direction
Oral, prescription only. Shake well before use. Take before meals. Adults and adolescents 12 years and older weighing 35 kg or more: 10 ml (10 mg) up to three times daily, maximum 30 mg per day. Children under 12 years or weighing less than 35 kg: 0.25 mg/kg up to three times daily, measured with the oral syringe. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest time, usually not more than 1 week. See the package leaflet.
Side effects
- Dry mouth
- Abdominal cramps
- diarrhoea or nausea
- Headache
- drowsiness or dizziness
- Rarely
- involuntary movements (especially in children)
- stop and see a doctor
- Rarely
- breast enlargement
- breast discharge or menstrual changes (raised prolactin)
- Rarely
- irregular heartbeat
- seek medical help immediately
Precautions
- Do not use if allergic to domperidone
- with a prolactin
- releasing pituitary tumour
- gastrointestinal bleeding
- obstruction or perforation
- Do not use with moderate or severe liver impairment
- heart rhythm (QT) problems
- or with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors such as ketoconazole
- erythromycin or clarithromycin
- Use the lowest dose for the shortest duration
- do not exceed the recommended dose
- Prescription only
- consult a doctor or pharmacist before use if pregnant or breastfeeding
- Keep out of reach of children
