Indication
Prescription penicillin antibiotic for bacterial infections caused by amoxicillin-susceptible organisms, such as ear, nose and throat infections (otitis media, sinusitis, tonsillitis), lower respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, and skin and soft tissue infections.
Ingredients
- Amoxicillin 250 mg per sachet
Direction
Oral. Mix the contents of one sachet with a small amount of water before taking. Dose, frequency (usually every 8 hours) and duration are determined by the physician according to age, weight and type of infection. Complete the full course. Read the enclosed leaflet carefully.
Side effects
- Diarrhoea
- nausea or vomiting
- Skin rash or itching
- Rarely
- severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis)
- seek medical help immediately
- Rarely
- antibiotic
- associated colitis (severe or bloody diarrhoea)
- Consult a doctor or pharmacist if side effects occur
Precautions
- Prescription medicine
- use only as directed by a physician
- Do not use if allergic to penicillins
- tell the doctor about any cephalosporin allergy
- Complete the full course even if symptoms improve
- Use with caution in kidney impairment
- avoid in infectious mononucleosis (high risk of rash)
- Inform the doctor if pregnant or breastfeeding
